Integrative Counsellor
Therapeutic Approach
I believe that 'the relationship is the therapy' and finding the right fit with your counsellor is a crucial part of what can be a daunting process.
Maybe you have a sense that something is wrong, but you can't put your finger on what it is. You don't need to be able to label anything - therapy is a space where those feelings can be explored.
I offer a safe, empathic and non-judgemental space to focus on whatever you choose to bring to sessions, at a pace that is set by you. The focus and number of sessions are your choice, and I encourage a regular dialogue to make sure that you are getting what you want from therapy.
As an integrative counsellor I use aspects of both person-centred and psychodynamic counselling, drawing on different techniques to create something that is right for you as an individual.
I was manager of a low cost counselling service for two years and dealt regularly with complex issues in this role. In my private practice I particularly value working with young women on the following; low self-esteem, anxiety and negative thought patterns, perfectionism, dating and relationships, narcissistic abuse, emotional neglect, difficult family dynamics, family-estrangement, low mood, low motivation, feelings of being 'stuck' and finding meaning in one's life.
